Job summary

Riverside Health System in Hampton, VA seeks a Registered Nurse to oversee assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of total nursing care for patients in the Critical Care/Telemetry units. You will collaborate with the nurse manager and director to ensure high-quality care.

The role requires strong clinical judgment, ability to delegate, and comfort working with diverse patient populations. Must hold Virginia RN licensure and CPR/BLS certification; bachelor's degree preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or higher preferred.
• RN licensure in Virginia (VDHP) required.
• CPR/BLS certification required.
• Critical care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates ability to assess patient clinical and psychosocial needs by applying standards of practice as it relates to the specialty or patient population served in the Critical Care/Telemetry units/departments (see unit specific competencies and equipment checklists).
• Partners with patients and families to develop, implement and evaluate plan of care, treatments and procedures that contribute to the physiological and psychosocial outcomes of the patient. Assesses and incorporates evidence-based standards of practice. Collaborates with interdisciplinary team in the coordination care. Facilitates safe patient transitions to the next care setting as part of plan of care.
• Demonstrates understanding of diverse patient care populations and ability to modify education method to ensure patient/family comprehension. Educates by assuming responsibility to individualize and coordinate patient education, and discharge specific education that includes family/caregiver. Evaluates for patient comprehension and documents.
• Ability to delegate and prioritize tasks appropriately to facilitate quality patient care and ensure patient care needs are met. Able to recognize and respond to emergency situations. Evaluates own needs for support and uses identified systems to meet need.
• Accurately completes all required clinical and quality documentation consistently per RHS standards and regulatory requirements.
• Demonstrates a sense of urgency to facilitate patient throughput to assure patients receive consistent, competent, and ethical care. Focuses on quality outcomes of patient care when addressing customer’s needs to include current evidence based practice and quality measures.
