Job summary

The Lab Phlebotomist – Ambulatory at Carle Health performs venipuncture, skin puncture, EKG, point of care testing, and patient registration in the ambulatory setting.

Responsibilities include collecting blood and processing specimens, verifying patient identification, entering orders in the lab system, and supporting multiple clinic labs. The role requires strong communication and the ability to work in a fast-paced outpatient environment, with Saturday coverage as part of the rotating schedule.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• 6 months phlebotomy experience or completion of Carle Phlebotomy in Training Program.
• BLS certification within 30 days (AHA).

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture, skin puncture, EKG, and POCT in ambulatory labs.
• Verify patient ID and accurate specimen labeling.
• Register patients and enter lab orders in Epic Prelude.
• Support South Clinic Lab and other Carle labs; cover weekend shifts.
