Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a Pharmacist leader to oversee the Medication Services Department and Refill Center for ambulatory clinics and patients. The role focuses on leadership, regulatory compliance, and efficient operations across multiple clinics.

The ideal candidate holds a Pharmacy degree and Alabama license eligibility, with at least three years of relevant experience. This is a full-time on-site position offering robust benefits and professional growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy and three years of related experience required.
• Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Pharmacist by the Alabama Board of Pharmacy (ALBOP).

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for ambulatory pharmacy operations, with understanding of institutional structure, procurement, inventory, storage and related processes.
• Oversee pharmacists and technicians who manage clinics.
• Manage medication inventory for provider-based and physician clinics across UAB Hospital, including shortages and recalls.
• Compound hazardous and non-hazardous medications in sterile and non-sterile environments.
• Support primary care providers with medication management within their clinics.
• Participate in the Medication Services Committee and Ambulatory Subcommittee of UAB’s Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee.
• Support training and development of Medication Services and Refill Center teams.
• Ensure compliance with UAB policies, The Joint Commission, USP standards, ALBOP, DEA and other regulations.
• Partner with Ambulatory Implementation team for clinic moves and go-live activities.
• Identify opportunities to improve operations, patient care, and cross-team collaboration.
