Job summary

Western Carolina Surgery Center seeks a dedicated PACU RN to deliver high-quality post-anesthesia care. The role focuses on patient safety, comfort, and privacy while monitoring patients recovering from general anesthesia or sedation.

The ideal candidate has an accredited RN education, an active state license, and BLS/ACLS; PALS may be required. Experience in PACU or critical care is preferred, with strong nursing judgment and communication skills essential for success.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited RN School of Nursing.
• Active RN license in the state.
• BLS and ACLS Required, PALS if required by the center.
• 2 years experience in PACU or Critical Care preferred.
• Ability to make decisions based on nursing judgment.
• Able to prioritize and organize workload to meet the needs of patients and the unit.
• Strong communication skills, verbal and written.

Responsibilities

• Provide continuity and quality nursing care for all patients in PACU, with ongoing assessment of condition.
• Ensure patient safety, comfort, and privacy throughout the perioperative period.
• Assist physicians in procedure rooms as needed, including conscious sedation and sterile techniques.
• Perform comprehensive patient assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for discharge readiness.
