Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health seeks an OR Service Coordinator to plan, organize and direct specialty services within their surgical care lines. The role focuses on staffing, equipment, quality and efficiency across perioperative services at Jersey Shore University Medical Center.

The candidate should have an active NJ RN license, 3–5 years OR experience, strong leadership, and excellent communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License (RN)
• AHA Basic Health Care Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers
• Three to five (3-5) years of operating room/surgical experience
• Ability to work as part of a cohesive leadership team
• Leadership experience preferred
• Excellent communication, facilitation and delegation skills
• Experience in an operating room with familiarity of equipment/instruments
• Knowledge of OR and materials management computer systems
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to work with minimal supervision
• Two (2) years of surgical experience in a clinical specialty service line preferred
• Leadership oversight preferred
• Mentorship, education and training of staff nurses preferred
• BSN degree preferred
• Certified Nurse Operating Room within one year

Responsibilities

• Conducts rounds and communicates with charge RN, team members, surgeons, anesthesia providers, and perioperative staff to ensure cases proceed as planned.
• Reviews OR schedule one week in advance for case needs and assesses equipment, implants, and staff education needs.
• Contacts vendor representatives to obtain implants and instruments for cases; monitors vendors in patient care areas.
• Expedites first case on time starts and assists team with OR efficiency and quality benchmarks.
• Participates in annual equipment planning and oversees supply inventory adjustments.
• Leads use of value analysis processes and engages in capital budgeting discussions with perioperative leadership.
• Provides room coverage and relief for staff breaks to maintain patient throughput.
• Oversees and manages service line preference cards and instrumentation trays for efficient use of time and supplies.
• Engages with perioperative management to develop department standards, policies, and performance monitoring tools.
• Supports research and implementation of findings in specialty areas and participates in learning opportunities
