Job summary

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant Program or applicable on the job clinical experience.
• If Medical Assistant Program has not been completed, must have applicable on the job clinical experience.
• Experience working as a Medical Assistant preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the AHA within 30 days of hire.
• If travel to offsite locations is required, must possess a valid driver's license and driving record without significant violations.
• Nationally certified or registered as a Medical Assistant preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares instruments, equipment and materials needed for patient care; keeps exam room aseptic, neat and supplied.
• Obtains and documents complete patient data in a timely and accurate manner.
• Prepares patients for exams and assists provider with exams/tests/procedures as needed.
• Instructs patients in preparation for procedures and tests when appropriate.
• Performs basic procedures as ordered by provider and within scope of practice.
• Processes provider’s orders, prepares forms, and schedules appointments and services.
• Arranges for hospital admission when indicated.
• Ensures charges are submitted in a timely manner.
• Assists the provider with obtaining test results and communicates with patients.
