Job summary

VCU Health in Richmond, VA seeks an Ambulatory Nursing Professional Development Specialist (NPDS) to advance professional development and clinical excellence across ambulatory settings. You will partner with clinicians, lead change initiatives, and translate evidence-based practice into patient care improvements.

Requires a Master’s degree in nursing or equivalent, RN license in Virginia, and 5+ years in nursing with 3+ years in staff education.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in nursing or related field required; if not in nursing, a Baccalaureate in Nursing is required.
Minimum five (5) years of clinical nursing experience; at least three (3) years in staff education and professional development.

Responsibilities

Lead practice transitions and serve as a change agent to promote organizational excellence.
Partner with interprofessional colleagues to develop and disseminate education on clinical practice changes.
Assess readiness for change and implement effective programs for sustainable change using ADKAR/Kotter methodologies.
Support professional development and create clinical workforce pipelines (transition to practice, preceptor, mentoring).
Scope, plan, execute, and sustain high-impact initiatives; maintain project charters and timelines.
Consult with stakeholders to identify practice gaps and drive practice improvement and quality indicators.
Develop academic partnerships with schools of Nursing and allied programs to support transition to practice and student placements.
Promote engagement through shared governance, EBP, and nursing research readiness.
