Job summary

Salem Clinic Inland Shores in Keizer, OR is seeking a Medical Coder to translate patient records into CPT/HCPCS and ICD-10-CM codes for accurate billing. This full-time role requires precise coding and timely processing within clinic workflows.

You will work with Epic and other coding tools, collaborate with clinicians, and help close coding gaps while maintaining high compliance and quality standards in a patient-centered environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Course in health information management completed.
• Working knowledge of CPT, CPT-II, CPT-4, HCPCS and ICD-10-CM codes.
• Clear communication, listening and writing skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
• Basic computer skills and Microsoft basics.
• Ability to work quickly and accurately.
• Team player and professional interaction.

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, CPT-II, CPT-4 and HCPCS codes.
• Review denials from Health Plan Services and supply codes or explanations as to why the code cannot be changed.
• Identify documentation requirements and provide feedback to providers.
• Meet deadlines, including close of month and mandatory overtime if activated.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding standards and terminology.
• Use Epic, EncoderPro.com, Outlook, Excel, and Word.
• Demonstrate telephone skills and strong customer service.
• Adapt to changing duties within department.
