Job summary

Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL is seeking a Medical Assistant in the Family Medicine clinic to support physicians, nurses and staff in an ambulatory setting. You will help manage patient flow, prepare rooms, and perform basic procedures under supervision.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, CMA certification, CPR, and strong communication and organizational skills. A one-year clinical experience and Epic Ambulatory experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Clinical Medical Assistant Certification by AAMA, AMT, NCCT, NAHP, AAH, or NHA required upon hire.
• Certification within six months of hire if coming from a Rush Apprenticeship program.
• Current CPR certification required on start date.
• Computer skills required.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Excellent organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and maintains organized patient flow.
• Performs patient intake: vital signs, reason for visit, interim history, allergies, etc.
• Prepares patient for exam and assists provider with procedures.
• Reviews appointment schedules and ensures charts are available.
• Performs basic lab and testing procedures, phlebotomy and EKGs.
• Administers immunizations and medications as directed.
• Maintains inventory and clean/sterile exam rooms and equipment.
• Documents patient care information in the electronic medical record.
