Job summary

MedStar Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to perform clinical and administrative duties in an ambulatory care setting under supervision. The role may float to other sites and requires patient-centered care, accurate vital signs, and data entry into the EMR.

Responsibilities include assisting physicians and nurses, performing venipuncture, vaccines, and point-of-care testing where required, while supporting a high reliability organization’s safety standards and continuous improvement

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
• Externship in a medical or ambulatory health setting strongly preferred.
• Cardiology offices: 6 months experience in ambulatory care or related requirements may apply; Bachelor's degree or cardiac technician coursework may be preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist providers with patient examinations and preparation; support clinic flow and educate patients.
• Perform venipuncture, medication and vaccine administration, vital signs measurement and documentation.
• Document activities in the EMR and perform clerical tasks as needed.
• Support care coordination, follow-up tasks, and referral documentation.
• Participate in team huddles and quality/safety initiatives.
