Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Worcester, MA is seeking a Medical Assistant II for the Ambulatory Float Pool. Under the direction of licensed clinicians, you will provide clinical care and perform clerical duties to support office and clinic operations, including taking vital signs, EKGs, phlebotomy, and point-of-care tests.

The role requires a High School diploma or equivalent, current BLS or Heart Saver certification, and a MA credential approved by the MA Department of Health.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Current BLS/Heart Saver certification is required or obtained within 3 months.
• Medical Assistant credential approved by the MA Department of Health is required.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to rooms and record vital signs and patient status.
• Perform EKGs, phlebotomy, and point-of-care tests per clinic standards.
• Assist with injections and routine examinations as directed.
• Prepare and maintain patient records and office/clinic supplies.
• Coordinate with insurers for pre-authorization and coverage when needed.
• Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharge procedures.
• Maintain safe patient handling and equipment cleaning per protocol.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

Basic Life Support (BLS) or Heart Saver certification

Medical Assistant credential (MA) approved by MA Department of Health
