Job summary

Northern Valley Indian Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to join its ambulatory care team. The role involves rooming patients, taking vitals, and assisting providers across multiple sites. The incumbent will work under RN leadership and adhere to California regulations.

The position requires graduation from an accredited MA program, EHR experience, and strong communication skills. Travel between sites is required, with a supportive multi-site team and core values guiding patient care.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Current certification from approved California Medical Board programs preferred.
• Six months of phlebotomy certification training preferred.
• One year of medical assistant experience preferred.
• Electronic Health Records experience required.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Reliable transportation for travel between sites.

Responsibilities

• Assist with rooming patients and preparing for visits; document reasons for visit and take vitals.
• Perform nursing lab duties (urine dipsticks, pregnancy tests, A1C, lipid panels, strep, COVID screening).
• Draw blood and log/label specimens; administer injections as policy.
• Conduct eye and audiometric screenings and EKGs as needed.
• Prepare documents for third-party billing and charting for WIC, SOFP, BCEDP, CHDP programs.
• Maintain patient care standards and clinic policies.
• Travel to other locations for training or coverage per NVIH procedures.
• Escalate issues to Nursing and Medical Leadership as needed.
