Job summary

Northern Nevada Medical Group, part of Northern Nevada Health System, seeks a full-time Medical Assistant for day shifts. You will assist physicians, measure vitals, perform venipuncture, document in EMR, and support front desk coverage.

Qualified candidates have an accredited MA program, BLS/CPR, and experience with patient check-in/out and medical terminology. IPM unit from UHS supports physician networks nationwide.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program required.
• Current BLS/CPR certification required.
• Medical Assistant Certificate of Completion and/or one year experience as a Medical Assistant.
• Familiarity with medical terminology required.
• Experience with patient check-in and check-out process (clinic protocol).
• General medical office procedures.
• Understand end of day cash balancing and charge reconciliation process (clinic protocol).

Responsibilities

• Participates in decision-making and process improvement.
• Keeps patient rooms, nursing station and storage rooms stocked and clean; manages product expiration dates.
• Distributes referrals to physicians and insurance companies; documents referrals in patient charts.
• Pre-authorizes prescriptions and clinical tests as necessary.
• Phone/faxing patient prescriptions as necessary.
• Schedules imaging studies and related appointments; completes necessary paperwork.
• Triages patients, checks vitals, administers injections and venipunctures, and prepares patients for exam.
