Job summary

Harris Health System in Houston, TX, is seeking a Licensed Vocational Nurse to provide patient care and education in ambulatory clinics under the direct supervision of a registered nurse or physician. The LVN uses the nursing process to address physical, social, psychological and spiritual needs and coordinates care to support patient understanding.

The LVN will assist in determining healthcare needs, perform unit-specific tasks, and work within a multidisciplinary team to ensure quality care

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.
• Licensure: Current licensure as a Licensed Vocational Nurse in the state of Texas.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an AHA-approved program.
• Other certificates as required by unit/service.
• Work Experience: Experience in area of specialty preferred.
• Equipment Operated: Computer, IV pumps, vital signs monitor, and other unit-specific medical equipment.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and education in ambulatory clinics under direct supervision.
• Utilize the nursing process to ensure physical, social, psychological and spiritual needs are met.
• Coordinate care between members of the healthcare team to optimize the patient/client's understanding of their condition and care requirements within the LVN scope of practice.
