Job summary

Sentara Health seeks a licensed practical nurse to join our ambulatory care team on a part-time day shift (24 hours weekly) with the Float Pool. The LPN will support providers, room patients, take vitals, administer meds, collect specimens, and assist with procedures across Peninsula sites and travel to Western Tidewater as needed.

Relevant licensure (LPN), NCLEX-PN, BLS, and ambulatory care experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited practical nursing program leading to LPN/LVN eligibility is required.
• A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Current, unencumbered state LPN license and NCLEX-PN required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• Experience in ambulatory or physician practice setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists providers and registered nurses in delivering direct patient care in the clinic setting.
• Rooms patients, measures vital signs, and records health information in the EHR.
• Administers medications and immunizations within the LPN scope of practice.
• Collects blood specimens and performs simple diagnostic tests as ordered.
• Prepares patients and treatment rooms and assists with examinations and procedures.
• Provides patient education and follow-up instructions within scope.
• Supports patient flow and processes messages and refill requests under provider direction.
• Directs the day-to-day work of medical assistants and aides as assigned.
• Follows infection prevention and CMS/DNV standards.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
