Job summary

Atrium Health is seeking a Pharmacy Technician on a PRN basis at the Winston-Salem campus. You will assist pharmacists with medication preparation, labeling, and distribution while maintaining high accuracy and safety standards.

You’ll screen calls, manage inventory, and support billing and documentation tasks. The role may involve immunizations under supervision and occasional training duties within the pharmacy team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Pharmacy Technology course preferred.
• One-year pharmacy experience preferred.
• NC Board of Pharmacy registration within 30 days of employment.
• PTCB/NHA certification within 18 months or while enrolled in ACPE Pharmacy School.

Responsibilities

• Assist licensed pharmacist with preparation and distribution of medications.
• Select, prepare, and label medications including hazardous drugs and controlled substances.
• Assist with medication distribution tasks.
• Screen calls and route as needed with proper telephone etiquette.
• Assist in procurement, inventory control, and outdate checking.
• Document removal, stocking, and wasting of controlled substances as applicable.
• Perform nonsterile compounding per USP standards.
• Perform sterile IV admixture per facility guidelines.
• Inspect storage areas for adherence to policies.
• Document medication admission histories as applicable.
• Seek additional duties when work is complete; accept other duties as assigned.
• May participate in quality improvement initiatives.
• May train pharmacy technicians and extenders on policies and workflows.
• Abide by policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
