Job summary

Atrium Health in Winston-Salem, NC seeks a Pharmacy Technician to support licensed pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications. This full-time, dayshift role involves selecting, labeling, and packaging medications, assisting with sterile and nonsterile compounding where applicable, and ensuring accuracy of patient records and insurance information.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED; pharmacy technician certification is preferred; NC registration within 30 days;

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Certificate or Diploma in Pharmacy Technology preferred.
• One-year previous pharmacy experience preferred.
• PTCB technician certification preferred.
• North Carolina Board of Pharmacy registration within 30 days of employment.
• PTCB/NHA technician certification within 18 months or enrolled in ACPE program.

Responsibilities

• Assists licensed pharmacist in technical duties related to preparation and distribution of medications.
• Accurately selects, prepares, and labels medications for patients including hazardous drugs and controlled substances.
• Assists with medication distribution tasks.
• Screens phone calls and routes as needed using proper telephone and voicemail etiquette.
• Assists in daily pharmacy procurement, inventory control, and outdate checking.
• Complete documentation required for removing, stocking, and wasting controlled substances, where applicable.
• Perform nonsterile and sterile compounding where applicable following USP standards.
• Inspects all medication storage areas for adherence to storage policies.
• Completes and documents medication admission histories as applicable.
• May obtain immunization certification and perform immunizations under supervision where applicable.
