Ambulatory Float Pool RN

M-F Days

ICU, ED, Infusion experience helpful but not required.

We are seeking flexible and skilled Registered Nurses (RNs) to provide exceptional, compassionate care to patients and families in diverse ambulatory clinic settings throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) metroplex. As a float pool RN, you will be instrumental in providing crucial staffing support, utilizing your broad clinical knowledge and adaptable skills across a variety of clinic environments. Experience and Education

Graduate of an approved/accredited nursing program. Licensure as a Registered Nurse by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas and one (1) year of clinical nursing experience is preferred. Specialty areas may have increased experience requirements as dictated by clinic or standard of care. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through a course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) is required.

Job Duties

  1. Work in multiple clinic sites providing interim nurse staffing. Able to acclimate to different clinical settings with minimal supervision.
  2. Deliver nursing interventions to assigned patients that are consistent with the medical plan of care, utilizing the nursing process to assess, implement, and record patient's response in the medical record.
  3. Schedule patients' appointments, tests, and procedures via online computer system or telephone, and reinforce physician instructions in person and through telephone contact.
  4. Proficiency in electronic medical record documentation. Provide patient education and document patient's response in medical records.
  5. Ensure appropriate patient consents and authorizations are obtained for research and/or medical treatment.
  6. Triages patient phone inquiries according to physician and/or departmental protocols and documents actions in patients' medical records.
  7. Provide supervision and delegate tasks to licensed vocational nurses, non-licensed medical staff, or office support personnel.
  8. Participate in recommending policy and procedural changes according to nursing expertise.
  9. Prepare equipment and assist physicians during physical exams and medical procedures.
  10. Prepare and administer medications as prescribed by a physician.
  11. Inspect equipment and facilities visually and physically to ensure patient safety and proper functioning of equipment. Maintain adequate stock of supplies required for the work area.
  12. Perform duties that may include directly caring for patients, human-subjects research participants, maintaining or modifying patient or research records.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.

This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code 51.215, which authorizes UT Southwestern to obtain criminal history record information.
