Job summary

Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) is seeking a Clinic Practice Assistant for the Ambulatory Float Pool. The role supports administrative and clinical tasks across multiple clinics, including patient check-in, scheduling, vital signs, phlebotomy, and basic testing under supervision.

You will assist in maintaining smooth clinic operations and patient flow. This position requires basic computer skills, 0–1 year of relevant experience, and completion of BIDMC competency programs.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 0–1 year related work experience required.
• Medical assisting experience in related healthcare settings (MA, CNA, EMT, PCT certificate, or Associate Degree in Medical Assisting).
• Successful completion of BIDMC in-house competency program in 2019.
• Basic familiarity with computers and navigating web-based applications.

Responsibilities

• Performs medical assisting duties including vital signs, EKGs, phlebotomy, and assisting during procedures.
• Greet, check-in, schedule and assist patients, and provide courteous service.
• Escort patients to radiology and lab as needed.
• Monitor and maintain medical equipment and supplies, ensuring sterility and readiness.
• Enter tests, services, or appointments in EMR (OMR) and document tasks for billing.
• Prepare schedules and patient charts for clinical activities and manage documentation.
