Brown University Health in Rhode Island is seeking a Medical Assistant to support ambulatory care across all ages. You will perform pre-visit planning, prepare patients for exams, record vitals and med histories, and manage lab specimens within established clinic workflows.

The role requires MA training, BLS, strong EMR skills, and the ability to communicate professionally with patients and providers. Day shift, hospital setting, and emphasis on patient-centered care are highlighted.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalency; able to read, write and speak English.
• Graduate of formal Medical Assistant training program (9 months or longer) or minimum of 3 years MA experience in ambulatory setting.
• Basic Life Support Certification.
• Ability to understand and apply policies, procedures and protocols.
• Ability to use EMR and other software applications.
• Ability to interact professionally with patients, providers, supervisors and peers.
• Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
• Knowledge to provide care across the life span with consideration of aging and cultural patterns.

Responsabilités

• Performs pre-visit planning by reviewing patient records and setting up needed services.
• Prepares patients for examination and treatment; records vitals, chart notes, and medications.
• Ensures patient flow and assists with physical examinations following aseptic techniques.
• Administers vaccines and places PPDs as per protocol.
• Ensures lab results are entered and communication with providers for abnormal results.
• Schedules tests and follow-up appointments; pre-registers next visit and verifies demographics.
• Maintains clean exam rooms and inventory, and supports office duties as needed.
