Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System is seeking an Ambulatory Clinic Nurse (RN) for the Float pool in the Medical Pavilion. The Float RN provides professional nursing care through assessment, documentation, planning, implementation and evaluation in the clinic setting.

Responsibilities include data entry, coordination with staff for efficient patient flow, injections, spirometry and EKGs, and MyChart guidance. ADN required; BSN preferred and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• BSN preferred
• Current RN license (multistate or state)
• BLS certification required or obtained within 14 days of hire

Responsibilities

• Accurately enters data in hospital and clinic systems; assists with medical records.
• Completes FMLA and STD paperwork for provider approval.
• Coordinates with staff to ensure efficient patient flow and care quality.
• Provides care team support and pre-visit planning opportunities.
• Follow up on lab results after provider review.
• Orders supplies and organizes the sample closet.
• Performs injections, spirometry and EKGs as needed.
• Handles prior authorizations and medication refills per protocol.
• Guides patients on MyChart activation and engagement.
• Responds to triage calls and patient concerns promptly.
• Rooms patients, records vitals, reviews med lists, and educates patients.
• Documents outside services in EMR and tracks care transitions.
