Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join the Float Team in ambulatory care. This full-time position supports patient care across multiple clinics and collaborates with physicians and staff to promote health and safety.

Responsibilities include nursing process coordination, medication administration, EMR documentation, pre-visit planning, specimen collection, patient education, and coordinating tests or referrals as directed.

Qualifications

• LPN graduation from an accredited LPN program.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Preferred: previous medical office experience.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and prepares them for examination or procedure.
• Administers medications per orders and observes patient responses.
• Assists with supplies and aids physicians during treatment and testing.
• Ensures chart entries are accurate and timely.
• Schedules tests and referrals as directed by provider.
• Collects, documents and delivers lab specimens and enters EMR data.
• Notifies patients of test results and follow-up appointments.
• Reviews medications and post-visit instructions with patients/families.
• Responds to and screens calls for referrals to RN or physician.
• Performs pre-visit planning by reviewing EMR and ordering tests per protocol.
• Completes necessary forms and obtains physician signatures.
