Job summary

Yale NewHaven Health is seeking a patient care assistant to support the care team under RN supervision. Responsibilities include rooming, collecting vitals, specimens, and basic tests, while prioritizing patient comfort and safety.

You will engage with patients and families, coordinate with the interdisciplinary team, and help maintain accurate records and smooth workflow in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; completion of an approved medical assisting program.
• Preferred 12–18 months experience as Medical Assistant, Nursing Assistant, or Patient Care Associate.
• Preferred credential recognized by CT Department of Public Health.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient-centered care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Rooming patients, obtaining vitals, specimens, and basic tests per protocol.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the care team.
• Sustain clerical tasks and electronic records management as part of scope.
