Job summary

The City of Glendale, CA is seeking a mid-management professional to oversee the Basic Life Support ambulance transport component of the EMS program. You will plan, coordinate and evaluate operations, manage personnel, onboarding and training, and ensure regulatory compliance and quality improvement.

The role requires five years of emergency medical care experience with at least one year in supervision, and licensing in RN or Paramedic fields.

Qualifications

Job Description

Under general supervision, this non-sworn mid-management position plans, coordinates, monitors, and evaluates the effectiveness of the Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulance transport component of the Glendale Fire Department's Emergency Medical Services Program. The position manages Ambulance Operator personnel, staffing, recruitment, onboarding, training, regulatory compliance, quality improvement, operational readiness, and assigned program resources.

Education

An Associate of Arts or Associate of Science Degree in a related field is required.

A Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science Degree is desirable.

Completion of either a Registered Nursing Program or a Paramedic Training Program is required.

Experience

Five years of recent experience in the delivery of emergency medical care is required, one year of which must be in a supervisory capacity.

Experience in delivery of skills training and education is highly desirable.

Certifications Licenses

Possession of a valid California Registered Nursing License or possession of a valid California State Paramedic License is required.

California Fire Service Training

Transportation

A Valid California Class C Driver's License is required.

Selection Process

Oral Interview (Weight: 100%)

Candidates must pass the exam with a minimum score of 70.00% in order to be placed on the eligible list.

Background Investigation

A comprehensive background investigation will be conducted on all finalists, which will review and verify personal history including, but not limited to financial responsibility, criminal history, drug use history, driving record, and verification of application materials. Significant issues or omissions in the above-stated areas may be grounds for disqualification. Background investigation will include a polygraph and Livescan fingerprinting.

Evaluations will be based on the candidate's education and experience relevant to the position. Examinations will assess evaluate the candidate's education, experience, knowledge and skills related to the job.
