Job summary

A Day in the Life

As an Ambient Field Technician, you’ll get hands‑on experience collecting data while spending most of your time outdoors in a hardhat rather than in a cubicle.

Compensation: $24 to $28 per hour, commensurate with experience, skills and geographic location.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation, deployment, testing/sampling of air monitoring activities.
  • Independently and effectively assemble, operate, and troubleshoot ambient air testing equipment.
  • Ensure project preparation is complete before going into the field; this includes preparation, cleaning procedures, repair, and calibration.
  • Practice safety methods and procedures, and report all potential dangers, hazards, or unsafe work practices to the supervisor.
  • Provide excellent customer service to all clients.
  • Assist with laboratory, shop, and equipment maintenance.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Ability to travel up to 50%.
  • Ability to work in industrial settings and outdoors.
  • High School diploma through bachelor’s degree.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment, with proven time‑management and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Working knowledge of computer software such as MS Office Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders.
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds several times a day.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
  • Often works outdoors and may be exposed to hot and cold environments and extreme weather conditions, including sunlit, rainy, and windy conditions.
