Job summary

Onterris is seeking an Environmental Field Technician - Stack to perform data collection outdoors, testing emissions from industrial stacks. You will follow established methods and work mostly outside, with overtime opportunities and potential for long-term growth.

Travel up to 75% of the time is common for multi-week projects. No prior experience is required, and a High School diploma or equivalent is accepted.

  • Capacity for overnight and local travel for multi-weekday projects up to 75% of the time or more.

  • Capability to pass background checks and initial and random drug screening
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to obtain a DOT medical certification and OSHA Respiratory Protection Medical Evaluation
  • Flexibility is a must as the position may require weekend travel or work for a few projects during the year
  • Transferable experience: laborer, construction, industrial maintenance, mechanical, laboratory, environmental, field science, etc.

A Day in the Life

As an Environmental Field Technician - Stack, you’ll be responsible for collecting data and spending most of your time outdoors in a hard hat rather than in a cubicle. In simple terms, stack testing involves measuring what is coming out of an industrial exhaust stack to make sure emissions meet environmental regulations. This role offers a strong path toward long-term career growth and advancement opportunities. Overtime opportunities can provide meaningful additional income. Competitive paid time off and comprehensive benefits package available. The compensation range for this role is $23.50 to $28.00 per hour. To thrive in this role, you’ll be comfortable taking ownership of the following responsibilities:

  • Ability to work in outdoor industrial settings, including climbing to and working on elevated platforms (50ft - 300ft) in accordance with OSHA/ANSI and other applicable safety standards
  • Must be able to exert moderate physical effort, including lifting heavy materials up to 50 pounds
  • Often works outdoors and may be exposed to hot and cold environments and extreme weather conditions, including sunlit, rainy and windy conditions
  • Sitting, standing, and walking
