Job summary

Divergent is seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer for additive manufacturing equipment in our LA-area facility. The role focuses on maximizing part quality, machine availability, and throughput through advanced maintenance strategies and diagnostic methods.

You will diagnose complex electromechanical failures, optimize PLC logic and automation interfaces, develop calibration procedures, and mentor technicians while adhering to safety protocols in a fast-paced, startup manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Associate degree in a technical field, or equivalent maintenance experience.
• Automation and machine control experience with troubleshooting capabilities.
• Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repair experience.
• Hands-on work with additive technology in a factory setting.
• Ability to work autonomously and under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical performance of additive manufacturing equipment and improve maintenance strategies.
• Diagnose complex failures and implement corrective actions.
• Analyze and optimize machine performance, reliability, and production capability.
• Design and improve maintenance procedures, calibration methods, and operating standards.
• Execute calibration activities requiring independent technical judgment.
• Analyze performance trends to reduce downtime and cost.
• Work with PLC logic and automation interfaces to improve system performance.
• Serve as the technical SME for assigned AM systems and communicate repair timelines.
• Interpret schematics and drawings to solve technical problems while adhering to safety.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives (AS9100, IATF 16949).
• Develop technical documentation and mentor technicians.
• Evaluate equipment modifications and spare parts strategies.
• Collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional teams to implement solutions.
• Perform additional technical responsibilities as needed.
