Job summary

The UConn Foundation seeks a motivated Alumni Relations Student Assistant to support CLAS Alumni Relations with events, data upkeep, and communications.

You will assist with event planning, communications drafting, and CRM data entry, while gaining hands-on experience in higher education advancement and alumni engagement at the University of Connecticut. Enrollment in good standing is required and flexible 6–10 hours weekly, with occasional evenings.

Qualifications

  • Enrollment at the University of Connecticut is required.
  • Student in good standing related to GPA and conduct is expected.
  • Interest in alumni relations, communications, or advancement preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning and execution of alumni events, including logistics, registration, and on-site support.
  • Draft emails, newsletters, and social media content in collaboration with the CLAS communications team.
  • Data entry and updates in alumni CRM system (contact info, attendance, engagement notes).
  • Research alumni backgrounds to support outreach and engagement strategies.
  • Support alumni list requests and email support for CLAS units.
  • Prepare materials for meetings, events, and presentations (packets, nametags, reports).
  • Help manage RSVP lists, attendance tracking, and post-event follow-up.
  • Provide general administrative support as needed.

Position Summary

The Alumni Relations Student Assistant supports the CLAS Alumni Relations team in engaging alumni, coordinating events, and maintaining accurate data that strengthens alumni participation and philanthropic support. This role offers hands‑on experience in higher education advancement, communications, and alumni engagement.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Assist with planning and execution of alumni events, including but not limited to logistics, registration, and on-site support
  • Ability to work with the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences communications team in supporting alumni communications including; drafting emails, newsletter, and social media content. This may include developing social media content, writing alumni profiled, or coordinating with communications team on stories for alumni newsletters.
  • Conduct data entry and updates in alumni CRM system (e.g., contact information, event attendance, engagement notes)
  • Research alumni backgrounds to support outreach, stewardship, and engagement strategies
  • Work with Foundation support staff on alumni list requests and email support for units within CLAS
  • Prepare materials for meetings, events, and presentations (packets, nametags, reports, etc.)
  • Help manage RSVP lists, attendance tracking, and post-event follow-up
  • Provide general administrative support as needed

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); Familiarity with Social Media tools is a plus
Work Schedule
  • 6-10 hours per week (Flexible based on class schedule). Occasional evening or event hours may be required
Education & Experience
  • Enrollment at the University of Connecticut
  • A student in good standing related to grade point average and student code of conduct
