The Alumni Relations Officer will lead events, manage communications, and build relationships with alumni to support the Institution’s goals and objectives.

Additionally, the Alumni Relations Officer will support data collection and reporting efforts, including the use of involvement codes and systems such as our CRM (JHAS) to track participation, evaluate program outcomes, and inform strategic planning and continuous program improvement.

This role will drive the strategic growth and scalability of Odyssey and related enrichment programs. Responsibilities include expanding audience reach, diversifying formats, and piloting innovative models such as signature lectures, cohort‑based courses, regional offerings, affinity‑driven learning communities, and short‑form master classes to increase engagement across alumni and lifelong learners.

The Alumni Relations Officer will cultivate strategic partnerships across academic divisions and cultural institutions, manage instructor recruitment and contracts, oversee promotional timelines, and lead the design and publication of the Odyssey catalog and related communications. The role also includes management of the Johns Hopkins Alumni Book Club and coordination of cross‑collaborative opportunities with other lifelong learning initiatives, including Hopkins at Home and Hopkins Journeys. The Alumni Relations Officer will also supervise a graduate assistant, providing guidance on program operations, communications, and project support.

  • Design and expand complementary lifelong learning programs beyond the virtual Odyssey classroom, that connect alumni and learners with experiential opportunities, cultural institutions, faculty expertise, and industry leaders (e.g., Odyssey for Entrepreneurs, Odyssey Arts), and flexible asynchronous learning experiences that accommodate global audiences.
  • Recruit, cultivate, and manage a diverse pipeline of instructors, with a particular emphasis on alumni‑taught master classes, leveraging subject matter experts, as well as faculty, graduate students, and emeriti across disciplines.
