Job summary

Florida International University (FIU) is seeking a proactive Alumni Relations professional to create and expand opportunities that foster meaningful engagement with alumni, encouraging ongoing support of the university. The role maintains alumni records, analyzes engagement metrics, and supports annual giving campaigns.

The candidate will manage alumni communications, organize events, and collaborate with admissions, career services, and academic programs to strengthen FIU's alumni relations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and two years of experience in higher education, alumni relations, development, event management, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in alumni engagement, marketing, and social media.

Responsibilities

  • Creates new and expanded opportunities for alumni involvement that foster positive engagement between alumni and the university, resulting in alumni giving back their time, talent, and treasure.
  • Maintains and updates the alumni database to ensure accurate records of alumni information, engagement, and contributions.
  • Tracks and analyzes alumni engagement metrics and provides regular reports to the Director of Alumni Relations on program effectiveness and alumni feedback.
  • Creates and manages alumni communications, including newsletters, social media updates, and event invitations to keep alumni informed and engaged.
  • Organizes and executes alumni events, such as signature events, networking events, and guest speaker series, ensuring a positive experience for attendees; collaborates with the events team to support alumni-related events.
  • Provides support for annual giving campaigns and alumni stewardship.
  • Works closely with various departments, including admissions, career services, and academic programs, to enhance alumni relations initiatives and opportunities.
  • Manages the Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management's College page on People Grove, creating opportunities for engagement within the platform and overseeing the mentorship program housed within People Grove.
  • Serves as a proxy for Travel Authorizations (TARs) and Expense Reports (ERs), assisting with coordination, processing, and related administrative support.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of experience in higher education, alumni relations, development, event management, or a related field.
Desired Qualifications
  • 2–3 years of experience with engagement and volunteer management in a non‑profit organization, preferably in higher education.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in alumni engagement, marketing, and social media.
