Job summary

Phoenix Rescue Mission is seeking a full-time Recovery Coach to support men, women, and children in their journey toward recovery and independent living in Phoenix, AZ. You will build trusting relationships, assess needs, coordinate services, and help participants access housing, health care, employment, and community resources while promoting sober living and personal growth.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree preferred; equivalent education/experience may be considered.
  • Minimum one year of experience in social services, recovery support, mentoring, peer support, case management, or direct client services.
  • Experience supporting individuals transitioning from residential treatment or recovery programs into community living preferred.
  • Knowledge of recovery principles, relapse prevention, trauma-informed care, and strengths-based approaches to client support.
  • Strong interpersonal, mentoring, coaching, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with community resources related to behavioral health, healthcare, housing, employment, benefits, and other supportive services.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle record and the ability to meet Mission driving requirements required.
  • This is a safety-sensitive position due to driving responsibilities, community-based activities, home visits, and interaction with individuals who may experience behavioral health or recovery-related challenges.
  • Demonstrated personal commitment to following Christ and a lifestyle consistent with PRM’s Statement of Faith.

Responsibilities

  • Establish trusting, professional coaching relationships with residential program clients, Alumni, and Aftercare clients, providing encouragement, accountability, and support throughout their recovery journey and transition into independent living.
  • Assess client needs, develop individualized plans, coordinate services and resources, monitor and document progress, track goals and outcomes, and advocate for clients throughout their program journey.
  • Provide recovery coaching and support, including relapse prevention, peer connections, supportive communities and resources, and encouragement toward individual recovery goals.
  • Conduct assessments using the Eight Dimensions of Wellness and help clients develop practical strategies for maintaining recovery, stable employment, healthy relationships, and independent living.
  • Connect Alumni and Aftercare clients with appropriate medical, behavioral health, employment, housing, and community resources that promote long-term stability.
  • Facilitate individual and group recovery meetings and activities that reinforce sober living, healthy coping skills, life skills, and continued personal growth.
  • Facilitate required Aftercare activities, including monthly one-on-one meetings, home visits, and other program expectations.
  • Coordinate and participate in alumni outreach, ceremonies, events, and Alumni Connect activities that strengthen continued engagement with PRM.
  • Maintain timely, accurate, and complete documentation of participant contacts, progress, services, referrals, community engagement, and required program reports.
  • Participate in and facilitate prayer, devotions, testimonies, and other faith-based activities that support continued recovery and spiritual growth.

Your Top Responsibilities
