Thompson Metal Fab, Inc. in Vancouver, WA, is seeking experienced aluminum welders to join our union shop. This role focuses on fitting, MIG and TIG welding, reading drawings, and maintaining quality in a busy fabrication environment.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years aluminum welding experience in fabrication/manufacturing.
  • Proficient in TIG (GTAW) and MIG (GMAW) aluminum welding techniques.
  • Able to read and interpret fabrication drawings and welding symbols.
  • Able to pass an aluminum welding test.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform MIG and TIG welding on aluminum materials following drawings and welding procedures.
  • Set up and operate welding equipment, ensuring proper parameters for aluminum welding.
  • Fit and position aluminum parts before welding, using jigs and fixtures as needed.
  • Inspect welds to ensure they meet AWS D1.2 aluminum welding standards.
  • Work collaboratively with fabricators, fitters, and supervisors to meet project deadlines.
  • Operate grinders, saws, and other metalworking tools to prepare and finish aluminum parts.
  • Maintain a safe and organized workspace, following all company and industry safety standards.
  • Perform basic maintenance on welding equipment and tools.
  • Assist with other fabrication tasks as needed.

Position Description

The Pacific Northwest's premier steel fabricator, Thompson Metal Fab, Inc., is in immediate need of skilled and experienced Fitters / Fabricators / Welders. Serving the Civil, Hydro, Oil & Gas, and custom fabrication industries. We are an AISC, API, ASME, and WABO certified facility. With over 85 years in the industry, we have a reputation for producing some of the highest quality fabricated products on the West Coast.

This position is primarily fitting, but welding experience is necessary. Previous experience as a fitter will be prioritized. This position is available for swing shift: 3:00PM-1:30AM Mon-Thur, with optional overtime opportunities.

Competitive wages start ranging between $34.51 and $40.63 an hour. This includes a swing shift differential of $1.75 an hour.

All employees must pass a pre-employment drug screen and pre-employment physical.

Thompson Metal Fab (TMF) is seeking an experienced Aluminum Welder to join our team. This role is responsible for welding aluminum components using MIG (GMAW) and TIG (GTAW) processes in accordance with company standards, project specifications, and safety requirements. The pay grade range is Fabricator 3 - Fabricator 1, based on experience and skill level.

Position Requirements
Qualifications

Required-

  • 1+ years of aluminum welding experience in a fabrication or manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to pass an aluminum welding test.
  • Proficiency in TIG (GTAW) and MIG (GMAW) aluminum welding techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and welding symbols.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with basic metal fabrication tools.
  • Preferred (but not required):
  • Experience welding to AWS D1.2 aluminum code or similar standards.
  • Prior experience in structural or heavy aluminum fabrication.
  • Forklift and overhead crane experience.
