Job summary

The Shyft Group, Inc. in Waterville, ME is seeking an Aluminum Welder to join our team. You will perform MIG/TIG welding per blueprints, rework cab components, fabricate parts from raw stock, and help ensure production flow meets goals.

Candidates should have a HS diploma or GED, AWS 3G/4G experience or certification preferred, and the ability to read drawings and operate welding equipment safely. This is a regular, hourly non-exempt role with a competitive pay range in Waterville.

Qualifications

• Must pass welding certification test in AWS D1.x sections.
• AWS 3G/4G certification preferred.
• HS Diploma or GED required.
• Must be able to MIG or TIG weld steel, stainless, and aluminum as needed.
• Must understand AWS welding symbols.
• Must be able to set up, adjust, and maintain welding machines.

Responsibilities

• Use welding skills to rework cab and other components.
• Perform welding according to blueprints
• Fabricate components from raw stock
• Read and follow operator instructions, drawings, blueprints
• Understand production flow of assigned area
• Self-check work and inspect prior processes
• Use basic hand, electric, cordless, and pneumatic tools
• Meet production goals
• Maintain clean and safe work area
• Initiate process improvements
• Lead/perform lean events
• Communicate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues
• Solve complex problems with minimal assistance
