Schedule: 8:00AM - 5:00PM x 5
Term: 9-week assignment with the potential for extension
Pay Rate: $72 - $77/hr
Astrya Global, a San Diego based medical staffing agency, is hiring a PT for a temporary assignment in Alturas, California. These positions are 9-week contracts with the ability to extend.
Responsibilities for a PT:
- Direct physical therapy services under the direction of the Director of Physical Therapy
- Coordinate and supervise operation of the physical therapy department
- Administer physical agents prescribed by a referring physician
- Maintain performance improvement activities within the department and participate in continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities
- Assure competency of all department personnel
- Assist in formulating budget, evaluating department performance versus budget, and take appropriate action to remain within budget guidelines
- Develop and implement systems for reviewing department charges to ensure accuracy and timely entry
- Maintain efficient and effective department operations while ensuring compliance with all state, federal, and local regulatory laws, standards, and protocols
- Demonstrate professional behavior at all times
- Maintain positive working relationships with patients, visitors, and facility staff
- Compile and organize data using Microsoft Office Applications and make appropriate recommendations based on data obtained
- Maintain organized records and deliver records immediately upon request
- Observe and evaluate treatment effects and recommend changes to physician if needed
- Perform appropriate assessments of all patients related to therapy requested and provided, including neonate, pediatric, adolescent, geriatric, and general patient populations
- Assess patient pain interfering with optimal level of function or participation in rehabilitation and make appropriate physician contact for intervention
- Perform all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/healthcare errors
- Formulate teaching plans based on identified learning needs and evaluate effectiveness of learning, including family as appropriate
- Treat patients and their families with respect and dignity, identifying and addressing psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs
- Function as liaison between administration, patients, physicians, and other healthcare providers
- Manage and operate equipment safely and correctly
- Maintain department cleanliness and safety and comply with ongoing departmental inspections
- Interact professionally with patients and families and involve them in the formation of a plan of care
- Coordinate and direct patient care to ensure patient needs are met and policy is followed
- Demonstrate flexibility, organization, and ability to function under stressful situations
- Consult other departments as appropriate to collaborate in patient care and performance improvement activities
- Ensure documentation meets current standards and policies
- Train personnel utilizing on-the-job training for nursing, other hospital staff, and departmental staff
- Study current trends and developments in rehabilitative medicine through current literature and professional society resources
- Maintain standards of professional society procedures and ethical behavior
- Maintain knowledge of physical therapy machine operation, maintenance, and repairs
- Respond calmly and positively during crisis situations (e.g., Code Blue)
- Adhere to dress code and maintain a neat and professional appearance
- Complete annual education requirements
- Maintain and ensure patient confidentiality at all times
- Report to work on time and as scheduled; complete work within designated time
- Attend all meetings as appropriate, including committee, CQI, and management meetings
- Resolve personnel concerns at the departmental level, utilizing the grievance process as required
- Ensure compliance with policies and procedures regarding department operations, fire safety, and infection control
- Comply with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices
- Maintain current BCLS certification
- Maintain current California licensure or certification as a Physical Therapist
- Perform other duties as assigned
