Job summary

University of Utah Health in Murray, UT is seeking a PS Medical Assistant I for the Allergy & Immunology clinic. The role supports clinicians, prepares patients for exams, assists with procedures, and handles basic clerical tasks to ensure efficient patient care.

The position may travel to multiple locations including Midvalley in Murray and pediatric clinics in Salt Lake and Lehi. A current MA credential pathway is required, with phlebotomy skills and BLS training preferred, and a 40-hour work

Qualifications

• Ability to perform essential functions and assist with clinical procedures.
• Demonstrated phlebotomy skills and effective communication.
• Must complete basic competency testing within six weeks of hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for examinations and measurements per clinic procedures.
• Assists with clinical procedures including skin biopsies, excisions, and allergy testing.
• Reports patient concerns to licensed staff and may perform CLIA waved lab tests.
• May perform patient phlebotomy after specialized training and document results.
• Performs injections (IM, SubQ, intradermal) and suture removal as needed.
• Acts as a chaperone during examinations and assists with procedures.
• Maintains clean examination rooms and assists with inventory and restocking.
• Answers phones, schedules appointments, and assists with clerical tasks in medical records.
• Completes mandatory education such as infection prevention, CPR, and safety training.
• Educates patients and families with health information as directed.
• May provide Basic Life Support (BLS) instruction.
