Job Summary

Algorithms Software Engineer – Level 2 located in Boulder, CO. Responsible for developing, analyzing, testing, and implementing scalable algorithms to improve missile tracking capabilities and to document models and filters for tracking systems.

Essential Functions

• Develop, analyze, test, and implement extensible and reusable algorithms for missile tracking.
• Provide and maintain documentation for tracking algorithms, observation models, propagation models, and filters/smoothers.
• Perform data analysis and algorithm development for missile tracking applications.
• Develop and assess the performance of tracking and state‑estimation algorithms.
• Build tools and prototypes using Modern C++ and Python.
• Track and resolve algorithm defects.
• Produce technical documentation as required.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) from an accredited university and at least 2 years of related experience,
  or a Master’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 0–2 years of related experience.
• Linux exposure and working knowledge of common utilities such as grep, awk, cat, head, etc.
• 4 years of C/C++ development experience.
• Algorithm design and state‑estimation experience.
• Data analysis skills, including population statistics and trend identification.
• Ability to bridge theoretical concepts with practical implementation.
• Experience with numerical computing, including numerical linear algebra, differential equations, optimization (combinatorial and non‑linear), and statistics.
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% of the time to support business needs.
• Active U.S. Government‑issued Secret clearance required at the time of application; ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong statistical background and skills.
• Experience in tracking and prediction algorithms, simulation, and validation.
• Experience with multiple hypothesis tracking.
• Experience with the numerical implementation of motion filters.
• Familiarity with Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) and Electro‑Optical Infrared (EOIR) sensors and simulations.
• Experience with containerization.

Salary and Benefits

Primary Level Salary Range: $91,800.00 – $137,600.00. Compensation may include overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonuses, and long‑term incentives.
