Position Overview
The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a key component of the Missile Defense System. It provides a platform for the U.S. President, Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders to plan ballistic missile defense operations, monitor battles, and dynamically control networked sensors and weapon systems. This role will contribute to the design and development of Java-based mathematical algorithms supporting C2BMC as a member of the Regional Applications Agile Release Train (ART) of the Missile Defense National Team.
Essential Functions
- Generate software design artifacts and implement Java-based software changes.
- Support design and code reviews and resolve issues arising from software testing.
- Present developed designs to stakeholders.
- Participate in Agile planning and execution using established C2BMC processes.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field with 5 years of experience; or Master’s degree with 3 years of relevant work experience; or 9 years of relevant work experience.
- Current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application.
- Willingness to travel 10% of the time for business needs.
- Experience with full life-cycle development, Java application development, Unix/Linux, software implementation of mathematical algorithms, Agile development, MATLAB, DevSecOps, and systems integration.
- Strong problem‑solving skills, ability to review system behavior issues, identify root cause, and recommend solutions.
- Strong verbal and written communication, independent work capability, and ability to thrive in a dynamic environment.
- Experience working with cross‑disciplinary teams such as Systems Engineering, Integration and Test, Deployment, and Warfighter Support.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current, active DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA‑Security, CySA+, CND).
- Development of complex mathematical algorithms (tracking, correlation, guidance, battle management, radar management) for Java‑based military applications.
- Experience with Agile development, sprint planning, and active leadership during planning sessions.
- Proficiency in DevSecOps framework for Java‑based applications on Unix/Linux platforms, ownership of Git/GitLab, Eclipse, Maven/Gradle, SonarQube or similar toolsets.
- Experience developing automated unit tests and verifying requirements.
- Experience reviewing system engineering artifacts (ICDs, use cases, sequence diagrams) and presenting design materials and test results.
- Experience with MATLAB algorithms prior to integration into tactical Java software.
- Experience in the BMDS domain and Command and Control system applications.

Primary level salary range: $108,800.00 – $163,200.00.
