Job summary

Virginia Beach City Public Schools is seeking a part-time Tutor for Algebra I to work with middle and high school students. Tutors will deliver small group and individual instruction, develop remediation plans, and assess student work to raise understanding of algebra concepts.

You will maintain accurate records of student progress; the ideal candidate has firm math content knowledge through the high school level and prior teaching or tutoring experience.

Tutors will provide small group and individual instruction to middle and/or high school students through the level of Algebra I. Individualized plans to remediate students in mathematics through modeling, demonstrating, explaining, reviewing and assessing student work will be formulated by tutors. Accurate records of student progress will be maintained by tutors. Tutors must have a firm understanding of mathematics content through the high school level. The ideal candidate will have prior teaching or tutoring experience.

Certified (holds valid teaching license): $32.08 per hour

Non-Certified: $25.98 per hour
