Job summary

New Mexico State University–Alamogordo is seeking an experienced Manager, Library Services to lead daily operations and advance library programs for students, faculty, staff, and the community.

The role oversees collection development, acquisitions, cataloging, circulation, reference services, and programming; you will develop policies, supervise staff, train colleagues, and collaborate with campus partners while staying current with trends in library science.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in library services, information services, or a related area, including at least one (1) year of supervisory or lead experience.
• Master’s degree preferred with five (5) years of professional experience related to the job duties and responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Manages and oversees library services, including collection development, acquisitions, cataloging, circulation, reference services, and library programming.
• Develops and implements policies and procedures to ensure efficient operation of the library.
• Supervises library staff, provides training and support, and evaluates performance.
• Collaborates with faculty, students, and other stakeholders to assess and meet the information needs of the community.
• Stays current on trends and best practices in library science and technology to enhance services and resources.
• Attend statewide meetings.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Environment: Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.

Physical Effort: Light physical effort. Effort applies to no more than two (2) hours per day.

Lifting Requirements: Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 10 pounds or some standing or walking.

Risk: No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
