Job summary

ASRC Federal Communications seeks a Water Treatment Specialist to operate and maintain treatment plant equipment at Eareckson Air Station, Shemya, AK. This temporary 3-month rotation includes on-site housing and meals, with government-sponsored transport from Anchorage.

The role performs lab tests, adjusts chemical feed rates, and ensures compliance with EPA drinking water standards and NPDES regulations. Prior Alaska water treatment certification is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • State of Alaska Level II Water Treatment Operations Certificate or reciprocity prior to hire.
  • Valid driver's license with clean record.
  • Ability to pass National Agency Check with Inquiries and pre-employment screenings.

Responsibilities

  • Operate pumps, valves, and motors to control water flow and monitor gauges.
  • Test water samples for pH, iron, manganese, chlorine, and turbidity using pH meter, colorimeter and turbidimeter.
  • Record data from meters and lab tests.
  • Adjust chemical feed rates based on water quality.
  • Backwash filters as required and maintain equipment.
  • Operate portable water-purification equipment during contingencies.
  • Maintain logs and ensure compliance with EPA and NPDES regulations.
