Job summary

Techner Ltd in the United States seeks an experienced VSAT Construction Manager for a fully field-based role across Alaska. You will oversee deployment and installation of satellite systems at remote sites, requiring extensive travel across Alaska including bush locations.

Key responsibilities include end-to-end site construction, antenna installation, coordination with operators and NOC, supervision of crews, safety compliance, and on-site documentation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of VSAT or satellite system construction/installation management experience.
• Experience deploying in remote or harsh environments; Alaska preferred.
• Knowledge of antenna foundations, mounting systems, and civil works.
• Familiarity with iDirect, Hughes, Viasat or Comtech equipment installation.
• Knowledge of RF safety, grounding, and surge protection standards.
• Strong vendor and subcontractor management skills.
• Willingness to relocate to or based in Alaska; valid US driving licence required.
• PMP or OSHA 30 certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee VSAT site construction including foundations, mounting structures and shelters.
• Install, align and point Ku/Ka-band VSAT systems across multiple sites.
• Coordinate with satellite operators and NOC for link commissioning.
• Supervise subcontractors ensuring safety and quality.
• Conduct site surveys for terrain, weather and logistics in remote Alaska.
• Arrange logistics for equipment delivery to remote Alaska via barge or air.
• Ensure grounding, RF safety and surge protection on all sites.
• Maintain site documentation and close-out packages.
• Liaise with VSAT Design Engineer to resolve on-site challenges.
• Track milestones, budgets and schedules for the Programme Manager.
• Maintain health and safety across field sites in Alaskan conditions.
