Job summary

Big Ray’s in Alaska is seeking a Sporting Goods Manager to lead the department in a dynamic, hybrid capacity and to work closely with the buying team. You will own departmental performance, drive sales, and ensure top‑notch merchandising and freight flow, while ensuring operational integrity.

You will also maintain 100% inventory accuracy, comply with ATF/FFL regulations, and serve as a brand ambassador for the local outdoorsy community in Alaska.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least two years in retail, sporting goods, or related industry.
• Knowledge of hunting/fishing/outdoors in Alaska.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to stage products and market merchandise.
• Strong planning and organizing abilities.
• Effective written and oral communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead the sporting goods department in a dynamic, hybrid capacity in close partnership with the buying team.
• Own departmental performance—drive sales, elevate the customer experience, and maintain merchandising and freight flow.
• Ensure 100% inventory accuracy and strict ATF/FFL regulatory compliance.
• Act as a brand ambassador, ensuring Big Ray’s meets the needs of the local community.
• This is a non-supervisory role reporting to the Store Manager(s) and Senior Buyer; expect frequent standing and movement.
