Job summary

Northern Star Resources Limited in Delta Junction, AK, seeks a Heavy Duty Mine Mechanic Apprentice. This full-time on-site role combines hands-on mobile equipment repair with classroom study at the University of Alaska Fairbanks through the UAF Diesel/Heavy Equipment Program; rotating camp schedule.

You will gain experience diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining mobile heavy equipment using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic gear while advancing through an accredited apprentice program.

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship track with on-site work and UAF Diesel/Heavy Equipment coursework.
• Ability to work rotating shifts up to 12 hours in a remote camp.
• Commitment to safety and ability to work in extreme conditions.

Responsibilities

• Assist with diagnostics, breakdowns, follow-up work and PMs safely and timely.
• Learn workmanship by meeting standards, tolerances and testing before handover.
• Assist with identifying correct parts and equipment for all planned and unplanned jobs.
