Job summary

Northern Star Pogo Mine in Alaska seeks an experienced Underground Mobile Maintenance Mechanic to maintain underground mobile equipment on a 21 days on/off rotating camp schedule. The role focuses on timely, cost-effective maintenance, safety compliance, and collaboration with the maintenance team.

Responsibilities include diagnostics, PMs, parts identification, and coordination with supervision to minimize downtime. Camp living facilities and company benefits support long-term commitment.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years mechanical experience in heavy mining applications.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to perform preventative and breakdown maintenance.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and specifications.
• Proficient in prioritising work.
• Ability to problem-solve and manage conflicting priorities.
• Basic literacy in English.
• Computer literacy – Pronto or similar CMMS; Microsoft Office.
• Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices.
• Awareness of the Mine Safety and Health Act & Regulations.
• Be able to pass a background check and post offer physical.

Responsibilities

• Undertake diagnostic, breakdowns, follow-up work and PMs to a high standard.
• Provide technical advice and support to maintenance team.
• Ensure workmanship meets standards and testing prior to handover.
• Identify correct parts for planned and unplanned jobs.
• Attend daily pre-start meetings for effective communication.
• Provide handover to incoming crews regarding maintenance plans.
• Coordinate with Leading Hand and Supervisors to organize priority breakdowns.
• Maintain accurate maintenance history and documentation.
• Follow SWPs and JHAs to identify risks and safety measures.
• Organise permits (isolations, confined space, hot work).
• Contribute to cost control and avoid rework.
• Ensure required documentation is submitted.
• Adhere to MSHA safety requirements.
• Maintain housekeeping standards.
• Other duties as required.
