Job summary

Techner Ltd is seeking experienced Microwave Design Engineers to plan, design, and optimize microwave backhaul networks supporting 4G/LTE and 5G transport infrastructure. This Alaska-based role focuses on RF link design, frequency coordination, and multi-vendor planning to ensure high-availability connectivity.

Responsibilities include LOS analysis, licensed PTP/PMP network design, FCC coordination, and documentation. Requires Alaska residency and US work authorization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in microwave backhaul network design within telecom environments.
• Experience working with multi-vendor microwave platforms.
• Strong expertise in RF propagation, fade margin analysis, modulation schemes (QPSK, QAM), and licensed microwave frequency bands.
• Proficiency with planning and design tools such as Pathloss, TEMS Link Planner, MapInfo, and Google Earth Pro.
• Experience designing both PTP and PMP microwave links.
• Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
• Must be located in Alaska and authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Perform microwave link budget calculations, path profiling, and LOS analysis.
• Design and optimize licensed PTP and PMP microwave networks.
• Conduct frequency coordination and ensure FCC compliance.
• Develop technical design packages including schematics, BoMs, and network docs.
• Validate designs using planning and simulation tools for performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with deployment and integration teams to support implementation and troubleshooting.
• Review and maintain design documentation and as-built records.
