Job summary

AP&T is seeking a Journeyman Lineman in Skagway, Alaska. You will construct, maintain and repair distribution and transmission circuits while supporting safe, efficient operations in a rugged environment.

The role requires Alaska certification, an accredited Lineman Apprenticeship, and the ability to respond to outages on short notice. Competitive hourly pay includes a $60–$69 per hour range and DOE, with strong benefits in a small, employee-owned utility.

Qualifications

• Must have HS Diploma or GED.
• Completion of an accredited 4-year Lineman Apprenticeship.
• Hold a current certificate of fitness in Alaska or acquire within 6 months.
• Must pass pre-employment check and drug testing.

Responsibilities

• Construct, maintain and repair distribution and transmission circuits.
• Safely troubleshoot problems with electrical components from 120 V to 34,500 V.
• Properly size fuses and install transformers.
• Troubleshoot, repair and maintain overhead and underground transmission and distribution systems.
• Install and read single and three phase electrical meters.
• Construct new services.
• Maintain and repair power line hardware and substation equipment.
• Mentor and train Apprentices.
• Respond to emergency outages and be on-call as required.
