Job summary

The Alaska Municipal League seeks a GIS Program Manager to develop, coordinate, and deliver AML’s shared GIS services for Alaska local governments. You will work with member governments, Tribal and regional partners, and funders to build GIS capacity and produce maps and spatial analyses.

You will lead data standards, training, and program development, supporting planning, emergency management, asset management, and grant readiness—traveling to communities as needed.

Qualifications

Knowledge of GIS principles, data management, and mapping best practices.
Ability to translate technical GIS concepts for elected officials and staff.
Experience coordinating GIS projects and trainings.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement AML’s shared GIS service for member governments and partners.
Define service tiers, work plans, deliverables, and annual GIS support packages.
Serve as primary contact for GIS service requests and track hours and status.
Develop templates, standards, and workflows for efficient GIS delivery across communities.
Support leadership in evaluating demand, pricing, and staffing for GIS services.
Coordinate with data providers and funding entities to secure useful datasets.
