Job summary

ECS Federal, LLC (aka Everforth ECS) is seeking an Alarm Technician I to support USPS hubs, offices and distribution centers with 24/7 monitoring and dispatch services. You will program alarm panels, run diagnostics, manage customer accounts, and assist contract technicians.

Responsibilities include generating reports, maintaining monitoring software, and communicating clearly with internal/external partners. A year of related experience and strong typing are preferred for this critical role.

Qualifications

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • U.S. citizen and 18+ years old.
  • Able to attain and maintain a USPIS MBI Clearance.
  • Strong computer and data entry skills, including Word/Outlook/Excel.
  • Must be able to read and write English, and communicate clearly.
  • At least one year of favorable work experience in alarm monitoring, installation, and/or service.
  • Must be able to multi-task and work independently.

Alarm Technician I

This critical position works on the USPS security and alarm monitoring team, providing 24/7 continuous monitoring and emergency dispatch services for USPS hubs, outlets, offices, and distribution centers. The role involves centrally managed technical support in alarm panel programming, diagnostic and service support, customer account support, and assistance to contract field technicians.

Responsibilities
  • Provide centrally managed technical support in alarm panel programming, diagnostic and service support.
  • Provide customer account support.
  • Provide support to contract field technicians.
  • Run reports from databases (RAMIV Preferred), program alarm panels, and operate alarm monitoring software.
  • Create reports, documents, and correspondence using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
Required Skills
  • Possess a high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma.
  • Be a citizen of the United States of America.
  • Be 18 years of age or older.
  • Be able to attain and maintain a USPIS Moderate Background Investigation (MBI) Clearance.
  • Be able to sit for an extended period of time while monitoring multiple computer monitors.
  • Be able to maintain professionalism under highly stressful situations.
  • Be able to read and comprehend the English language; including printed regulations, written instructions, training material, etc.
  • Be able to write reports and document events concisely and accurately, including proofreading for grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Be able to speak English clearly and fluently.
  • Be able to provide quality customer service while communicating with internal and external parties.
  • Be able to hear ordinary telephone and radio conversations with either ear.
  • Must possess strong computer and data entry skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Be able to type a minimum of 45 words per minute (WPM).
  • Be able to manage and prioritize tasks from multiple simultaneous sources (radio, telephone, alarm monitoring software, etc.).
Other Prerequisites
  • Must have a minimum of one year of favorable work experience in the alarm monitoring, installation, and/or service industry.
  • Must possess strong communication skills and be able to communicate complex information to technical as well as non-technical personnel.
  • Must be able to multi-task and prioritize work.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal to no supervision.
Desired Skills
  • Prior experience with alarm monitoring and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) software.
  • Digital Alarm System set-up, troubleshooting, and test experience is preferred.
