Job summary

Brinks Home in Matawan, NJ is seeking an Alarm Service Technician to install, service, and inspect low‑voltage security equipment at customer sites. You’ll build lasting relationships with customers while applying our values of service, accountability, and integrity.

This hands‑on role involves troubleshooting, replacing components, and testing systems, with a base pay plus commission. Overtime may apply; travel to homes is required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Good driving record and valid driver's license.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Working knowledge of how an alarm system operates.
  • Must be ok with climbing ladders and working at heights.
  • Must be ok working in tight spaces such as crawlspaces, attics and basements.

Responsibilities

  • Experience with Alarm panels such as: 2GIG, Qolsys, Ademco, GE, DSC, DMP, and others.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical problems.
  • Replace system components as assigned; panels, peripheral devices, audible/visual alarms, etc.
  • Driving to customer homes to perform service. Occasional lifting, carrying up to 30 pounds, pushing and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; frequent stops, kneeling, crouching and/or crawling.
  • Diagnose causes of problems or failures in systems for the purpose of identifying equipment and systems repair.
  • Customer education and training including a system demonstration.
  • Conduct a thorough walkthrough/site evaluation with the customer to ensure the system meets needs.
  • Install and test operations of all equipment to ensure proper functionality and signal verification.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the use and functionality of the customers system and provide recommendations.
  • Maintain safety practices to prevent injury and damage to property.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace on job site, ensuring customer satisfaction after the interaction.

Position Overview:

We are currently seeking a determined Alarm Service Technician who embodies our core values: Service, Accountability, Customer Focus, Growth, and Integrity.

The Alarm Service Technician is a hands‑on role. You will play an integral role in building and maintaining customer relationships. This role entails visiting customer sites throughout the workday installing, servicing, and inspecting low‑voltage electronic security equipment.

This position offers a combination of base pay and performance‑based incentives:

  • Base Pay Range:$22.00 – $27.00 per hour (or salary equivalent)
  • Commission/Bonus:Eligible for additional earnings based on sales performance and upsell activity

Actual compensation will vary based on experience, geographic location, and performance.

This role is classified as non‑exempt and eligible for overtime pay where applicable.
