Job Description
The Alarm Service Technician is responsible for installation, service, and troubleshooting of fire alarm systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. The role includes leadership and oversight, ensuring projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and compliant with all applicable codes and manufacturer requirements.
Job Responsibilities
- Install fire alarm systems, including specialty valves, fire pumps, and associated equipment.
- Service, troubleshoot, and conduct/coordinate testing of fire alarm systems; ensure required certifications.
- Lead and oversee project teams, delegating tasks and coordinating daily work schedules to meet deadlines.
- Maintain accurate paperwork and electronic records as required by office and corporate systems.
- Ensure equipment installation complies with manufacturer specifications and NFPA codes.
- Train helpers, apprentices, and other personnel on system installation and maintenance procedures.
- Maintain inventory on service vehicles and manage modern equipment maintenance.
- Perform all additional duties as assigned.
Expectations
- Live and support Allied’s mission, core values, and business plan.
- Prioritize safety; submit JSAs, toolbox talks, audit forms, and incident/accident reports timely.
- Hold accountability for safety initiatives, safe driving, and Stop Work Authority.
- Complete all required training, certifications, and submit accurate timesheets.
- Ensure documents, signatures, and inventory management are complete and professional.
- Maintain production efficiency, budget awareness, and proactive communication with superintendents.
- Adhere to SOPs, purchase orders, change orders, and maintain professionalism on the job site.
- Provide excellent customer service and address survey feedback.
- Keep job sites clean, maintain equipment, and conduct quality control to reduce warranty work.
- Communicate effectively with team, customers, and external partners.
- Participate in team meetings and work overtime, out of town, or on-call as required.
Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of fire alarm systems, installation requirements, and NFPA 72.
- Ability to read fire alarm blueprints.
- High School Diploma or equivalent education.
- Forklift and scissor lift certification preferred.
- FAL required.
- Understanding of NFPA codes and standards.
Work Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in fire alarm system installation and service.

- Maintain vehicle and tools per company policy; valid state driver’s license and good driving record.
